What does it mean to be a Doer?
If your Christian nonprofit, church or ministry is building the kingdom through Word and Deed, you are a kingdom builder, a Doer, who deserves our support. We want to serve YOU!
The 77 million Christians across America are being asked to rally their support for their local churches, ministries and nonprofits in a national effort to strengthen the kingdom.
Why this urgent need to help Christian Doers?
Local government agencies, community organizations, and hurting individuals in need are increasingly turning to the local Church or Christian nonprofits for resources to assist and support their needs. This unprecedented service demand and downturn in the economy and church tithe support has created an unprecedented drain on the resources of all of our churches/ministries in every Christian denomination. Christians who value the expansion of local church service work can help with this effort to expand the influence of local churches.
In addition to spiritual guidance, the church has in many communities become the local “Go To” organization for food, clothing, shelter, emergency response help, education, prisoner reentry, and much more. As a primarilyChristian nation, we must recognize and support the changing role of our churches in society and offer the necessary financial assistance to help build the capacity of our churches to reach and serve the hurting, as we have been commissioned. Every dollar that you donate on this site goes 100% to support these efforts. The Bridge does not use any of your donation for our administration costs. We raise those ourselves. This site is dedicated to supporting Christian Causes!
| The Mandate-A Call to Local Faith-Based and Community Organizations to become Doers… |
The problem of poverty in America is not a result of lack of resources or best practices alone. We have adequate wealth and means to bring tremendous resources to bear on the problems in America. The experience in America’s government throwing billions of dollars at the problem of poverty the last forty years proves that resource and programs by themselves are not a match for the problems of poverty. Likewise, churches in America have the resources necessary to support anything that God has called them to do, if the members would be willing to serve and give.
The challenge before us is a challenge of “the heart.” Regardless of your religious persuasion, you would agree that Almighty God, our Creator, is in the heart business. He is about changing our hearts, our thoughts, our feelings, and our mindset to be less focused on ourselves and more on our neighbor. We all know the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This is our modern rendition of what Jesus said when asked what was the greatest commandment. Jesus said (paraphrased), “Love the Lord your God, and your neighbor as yourself. There are no commandments greater than these.”
When we study the Bible, we quickly come to the conclusion that God has a lot to say about taking care of the poor. In fact, we find over 400 statements that indicate that neglect of the poor infuriates God.
God desires that all people come to Him, have equal opportunities to grow and develop. God wants all people to live fulfilling lives, to take care of their families, and to be dignified and productive members of their communities. Furthermore, he wants all of us to be generous and become servants to the less fortunate.
Churches and faith-based and community organizations are in the business of changing lives. These critical community organizations have a broader job of teaching all of us how to grow in our sense of community toward one another; how to live out the commandment of loving your neighbor as yourself. Each must teach people how to reach out beyond their own spheres of influence, out of their comfort zones, and serve their neighbor, the poor, and the oppressed and the unloved. So, the challenge before us is to deliver the message along with the resources for faith-based and community organizations to accomplish the following to Serve the Servants:
• Strengthen the leaders of faith-based, community-based organizations as they realize their mandate to serve the needs of the poor including the oppressed, the fatherless, the widows, and the needy.
• Inspire faith leaders to mobilize people (volunteers) to have a genuine desire to serve the needs of their community.
• Provide training and capacity-building workshops, set up life-changing programs that are effective in serving the Servants of these communities.
• Open up channels of donors and private giving so that the resources are there to sustain effective programs serving all people.
The Bridge Alliance’s vision is that in every community, by God’s grace, Christians can be used to see the words of the prophet Isaiah come true in our land–Is not this the fast that I have chosen to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou sees the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward. (Isaiah 58:6-8) |

According to Crown Financial Ministries, many churches are under increasing financial pressure. Giving as a percentage of income has decreased almost every year for the past three decades, and it’s now lower than it was in 1933, the depth of the Great Depression. The funding of churches by Christians plummeted by 16% in the year 2005 alone. Of even greater concern, the younger generation is much less generous than its elders. For example, one church discovered that 58 % of its operating budget was contributed by those 65 years old or older and that it required three young families to replace the giving of one older family. In addition, the church needs a strategy to reach new young families in their community, families who are unchurched and without Christ.
“We are in a race against time as the church grows old. Simply put, unless we can reach the younger generation and teach them the Gospel, they will not be financially able –nor will they have the motivation-to fund the work of Christ in the future.”-Crown Ministries
As crippling as the financial consequences of not applying God’s financial principles have been, the spiritual impacts are far more devastating;
• In many churches, money now competes with Christ for our affection and lordship,
• Churches in every Christian faith are experiencing a crisis in lower attendance,
• In their frustration to support the work of the church, Pastors are leaving the ministry,
• Without sustainability through faithful members and financial support, the work of Christ will continue to suffer across the world.
• This cause is a God sized call to Serve and Support His Work! |
God promised to answer prayer that is According to His Will. As churches across the nation seek the will of God for their community and step out to meet that will in outreach and service, God will prosper His Church and Build the Kingdom.
